Mrs Taylor's interview

Have you ever lived in an English-speaking country?

Yes, she has. She lived in England for many years. She lived in three different cities: Newcastle upon Tyne, Nottingham and Birmingham

Do you like “La Perverie” and why?

Yes, she does. She loves the surroundings such as the park. She thinks that the teachers are nice and that most pupils are easy going and nice students.

What do you prefer in your job?

She loves her job and she prefers the interactions and contact with youngsters

Why did you want to become an English teacher?

She wanted to become an English teacher because it was her best subject at school. She loves English and most of all the English music. She thinks that the best bands are English bands and she wanted to understand their songs’ lyrics. Finally, she lived in England.

Is it difficult to be an English teacher and why?

Yes, because some students aren’t motivated and due to that, they speak French

In which class do you teach?

She teaches in 2nd SLA, 1ere SLA, and 1ere speciality

What is the English specialty? What do we learn?

The English Modern World speciality starts in 1ere as all the other specialities and it is 4 hours per week. There are 5 axes to study (for example, media, or education, history, culture, in English countries), therefore it is not all about the news

Are there many people who choose this speciality?

The first year, there were just a few people who chose this speciality (only one class of 30 students) because it was very new and not very popular. Then, there were two classes because students realized that this speciality was very interesting and quite preparatory for schools in politics or culture, or for the Cambridge exam.

Must we have a very good level in English?

A good level in English is not the most important thing because over all, we need some motivation and interest in English countries. And MOST OF ALL, we need to work a lot because it is very difficult and we have to get better. Indeed, at the end of 1ere, students have a B2 level, and then, at the end of Terminale, they have a C1 level.

Do we make some travels with this speciality?

No, there aren’t any exchanges with this speciality, but, before Covid-19, La Perverie organized some exchanges with Sacred Heart schools Worldwide, and, one day, when the Covid-19 has stopped, maybe there would be some exchanges again.
